Position Summary
The Development Associate reports to the Director of Community Initiatives and works closely with a Major Gifts Consultant and Business Manager at WGF.

WGF seeks a creative and experienced development professional with significant experience maintaining a donor database. WGF uses DonorPro technology as our donor database system, and while experience with this particular software is not necessary, experience developing codes and processes for donor information input and sorting, and experience developing and implementing donor queries and sorts is required.

The primary responsibility of the Development Associate will be inputting donor information into the system and maintaining the consistency of information in the donor database so that the Foundation is poised to utilize its donor information in a smart and organized fashion. The Development Associate will spearhead and manage all forms of donor communication and solicitation including direct mail, e-invites and e-solicitations, special event invitations, event planning and rsvps, acknowledgements, donor prospecting and cultivation. The Development Associate will draft donor correspondence and assist in developing grant request materials and grant reports to institutional funders.

Additional activities will include managing donor events, scheduling development committee meetings, providing program information to prospects, donors, and board members, providing the board and executive director with regular development updates, attendance at development committee meetings and board meetings, drafting donor and board correspondence and acknowledgments, using the fundraising management system (DonorPro) to update donor information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track and cultivate donors. The DA’s work will cover a variety of solicitation methods, including telephone calls, direct mail, e-communications and other creative uses of technology to increase total donations and gift revenue.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; CFRE preferred but not necessary;
  • At least three years of increasingly responsible experience in annual fund development while working in a non-profit organization;
  • Documented/demonstrated success working with boards, volunteers, donors, and general public;
  • Solid understanding of development process, how development research contributes to it, and the information sources used in development research;
  • Strong research, writing, problem solving and interpersonal skills;
  • Self-starter with ability to act independently within highly collaborative and collegial atmosphere;
  • Maturity and discretion in working with confidential information;
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated people and communication management skills; ability to motivate staff and volunteers;
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, both individually and organizationally; and,
  • A commitment to professional ethics and the ability to interact with diverse constituencies.
