Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras is currently accepting applications for the position of Executive Assistant, available August 11, 2008. ORCHESTRA: The Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras is an independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization comprised of two youth orchestras serving 125 gifted young musicians, ages eight to eighteen, from the tri-state area of western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Highlights of the season include eight concerts, monthly coaching by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members, chamber music classes, ensemble performances in the community, and a concerto competition for YPO members. POSITION: The Executive Assistant will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and will be responsible for completing routine operative tasks that will ensure efficiency in the office. S/he will serve as an unofficial liaison with the staff and orchestras, and will represent the organization in a professional manner. Responsibilities include: maintaining routine correspondence, filing promptly, attending Board of Directors’ meetings and taking minutes, arranging room and rehearsal schedules, maintaining mailing lists, compiling all rosters, monthly payroll and bill paying, monthly and quarterly financial and tax reports, keeping accurate records of membership dues and fund-raising activities, drafting copy for news releases, concert programs and flyers, bulk mailings, and scheduling annual auditions. Since rehearsals take place on Saturdays, the Assistant will be needed on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the school year. This position is full time with benefits. QUALIFICATIONS: Specific skills required for the position include writing for publication, typing, filing, detailed and organized record keeping and work habits. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Access is required. Knowledge of Peachtree Accounting software is preferred but not necessary.
