Summary: 
The Development Director is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the board’s development and marketing plan. The focus of this position is donor development, individual and corporate giving, annual appeals, community relations, and event management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate in shaping development and marketing plan with the executive director, board members, and appropriate staff members; implement the development and marketing plan; achieve the goals set by the Board of Directors Development Committee. 
  • Source, cultivate and write funding proposals for general operations and special projects.  Coordinate all appropriate solicitation follow-up, including grant reporting, gift acknowledgement, and donor recognition.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current donors, identify and pursue new funding sources including major donors, businesses and corporations.
  • Coordinate special events such as the annual breakfast, wine tasting, Mother’s Day Event, etc. with the Executive Director, Program Director, Staff, Board Members and Volunteers.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers to handle special events, mailings and other organizational needs.
  • Oversee all board and staff fundraising efforts, direct mail, personal solicitation, phone solicitation efforts, payroll deduction, Christmas Appeal and other strategies prioritized in the annual plan. 
  • Participate in community events, manage publication of newsletters, assist in the production of the Annual Report and provide relevant updates for the web site in order to raise awareness of Sisters Place.

Qualifications:
Require a Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience including 2 years in non-profit development.  Strong writing, communication, and computer skills are essential.  Prefer a wide general knowledge of fundraising, including institutional giving, government relations, donor cultivation, individual gifts, and events and the ability to devise and implement plans strategically.
