Position Title: Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
Position Status: Full-time, Exempt
Responsibilities/ Duties:
This position is responsible for payroll processing, electronic time clock management and accounts receivable. Transfer hours worked by examination of time from electronic media, EZLabor Manager. Responsible for verification of the calculation of over time, incentive pay, shift differential etc. Verifies and enters approved employee expense reports. Manages, enters and reconciles short and long term disability payments. Prepares deductions for authorized and mandatory deductions and submits to A/P for processing. Works in conjunction with Human Resources to verify or enter data on hires, terminations, and wage adjustments. Other responsibilities include supporting the day to day operation of the Finance department, fixed asset management, account reconciliation, analysis, and vendor relations. The position is also responsible for accurate completion of all related general ledger entries, including the bi-weekly payroll summary. Responsible for keeping current and abreast of changes related to payroll laws and policies. Must maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. Works closely with Human Resources department to support time and attendance and pay policies. Work the Zoo special events as required, and other special projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting with 3-5 years related experience. Excellent oral, written, analytical skills and a commitment to excellence. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Ability to work on multiple assignments of a project nature simultaneously. Required computer skills will include use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, ADP payroll processing, fixed asset software and accounting software, Great Plains experience preferred. Must have sound judgment, commitment to meeting deadlines, attention to detail and ability to support team efforts.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Typical office setting with a minimum 40-hour work week; exposure to outdoor conditions if working outside. Weekends, evenings and holiday scheduling may be required. Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 15 lbs, etc.
