Imagine a disease that affects 26 million Americans (almost 1.7 million live in PA and WV) and puts more than 20 million others at increased risk.  Now imagine that it’s preventable.

The National Kidney Foundation is the largest voluntary health organization in the world dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.  Through local offices nationwide, the Foundation conducts programs in research, professional education, patient and community services, public education and organ donation. 

The National Kidney Foundation of the Alleghenies is seeking an individual with proven fundraising experience to plan and implement Kidney Walks and other special events throughout its 27 western Pennsylvania and 14 northern West Virginia counties.

The Special Events Manager must be an extremely well organized, analytical and creative individual with strong fundraising and communication skills, who possesses the ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, and as part of a team.

Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience executing non-profit walks or other community-based events and proven ability to achieve financial goals.  A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and sales experience is necessary.

Qualifications include 3+ years’ experience securing corporate and individual support, coordinating event logistics, and recruiting and managing volunteers.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

This person is expected to contribute to a positive team environment and assist in developing a strategic plan to expand revenue that will help sustain our programs and services.  Working hours will include some evenings and weekends and during certain times of the year, the hours may increase significantly.  Regional travel required.
