CONTACT Pittsburgh offers immediate emotional support, crisis intervention and suicide prevention through its volunteer hotline, outreach and educational programs.
General Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Outreach and Volunteer Recruitment is responsible for the overall development and management of the CONTACT Pittsburgh outreach programs, which include suicide prevention programs to secondary schools, universities and community agencies and all volunteer recruitment.
Specific Duties:
- Plans, develops, implements and facilitates in suicide prevention training for area schools, universities and community agencies.
- Plans, develops, implements and facilitates in volunteer recruitment activities including advertising, public speaking, information dissemination, screening and interviewing.
- Researches and disseminates information deemed relevant for suicide prevention.
- Researches information deemed relevant for volunteer recruitment.
- Promote the program via interaction with other health and human service organizations, professionals and community leaders.
- Develop outreach and recruitment materials and fact sheets and other materials (posters, wallet cards, promotional items, newsletter articles, e-mail updates).
- Maintains good working relationships with other agencies.
- Support volunteer training, volunteer retention and crisis intervention services; including participating in training, volunteer activities and on-call rotation.
- Assist fundraising events and activities as required by the Executive Director.
- Perform own administrative tasks such as photocopying, faxing, filing, data entry, etc.

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and willingness to work flexible hours
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in social services or related field preferred and a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a related social service field
- Above average crisis intervention counseling skills
- Excellent written and communication skills
