Annual Fund and Community Events Coordinator, The Children’s Institute - Pittsburgh, PA

Established in 1902, The Children’s Institute is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the well being of children, young people and their families and to providing services that meet their special needs. The Children’s Institute three major areas are: 1) The Hospital, providing a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient pediatric care and rehabilitation; 2) The Day School, serving students challenged by complex and severe disabilities; 3) Project STAR, providing family reunification and adoption services.
The Annual Fund and Community Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating direct mail appeals, school- and workplace-based fundraising events, and other special events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Plans and executes all aspects of annual fund appeals
* Develops and implements strategies to increase annual fund revenue and number of donors
* Takes personal responsibility for a portfolio of individual gift prospects
* Keeps current with trends and applicable opportunities in annual giving
* Manages community-based fundraising efforts and other special events in coordination with the Marketing staff
* Provides staff support for the Development Committee of the Board of Directors
* Supervises volunteers and interns
* Supports other development and marketing activities as requested and readily contributes to an overall team effort
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Excellent planning, organization, and writing skills
* Strong computer skills
* Bachelors degree in marketing, communications or related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience
* Understanding of all aspects of direct mail appeals and successful track record in annual giving and event planning
* One year minimum in fundraising required, three years preferred
* Initiative, creativity, confidence, collaborative spirit, and dependability
