SUMMARY
3RC is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to develop, direct and nurture innovative information and technology solutions in education. This individual will work closely with 3rc's President and the Education Committee to 1) develop strategies to create and cultivate successful partnerships with schools, state education agencies, community networks, and business leaders, and; 2) develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of initiatives relating to education in Southwestern PA.
The ideal candidate will offer a blend of experience in K-12 education with a working knowledge of education technology and a track record of successful project leadership in a collaborative environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Concurrent project management including scheduling, communications, budgeting and reporting
- Affect collaborative communications between education professionals, community-based organizations, technologists, vendors and others involved in regional initiatives
- Understand the organizational and instructional imperatives and limitations of public education as the context for recommendations and actions, including knowledge of state and federal education policies and regulations
- Understand the role of community-based organizations in supporting youth development and education to facilitate specific project goals
- Stay current on industry trends and research related to education and technology
- Daily use of a wide range of information technologies, including all Microsoft Office products and familiarity with graphical packages
- Grant writing and other formal communications including contract negotiations
- Knowledge of database systems and comfort working with technology professionals involved in building information resources
- Appreciation for and comfort with data collection and data analysis strategies
- Incorporate an understanding of networks and the Internet into developing technology solutions that can affect current and future practices in community services and education

DESIRED BACKGROUND:
Professional experience (at least 5 years) working in an education/educational technology capacity - excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare proposals and/or present professional workshops, panels, presentations, articles, etc.; skill in working independently and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; strong understanding of the public school system; sensitivity to teacher and technology training issues; willingness to develop and implement new partnerships between the public and private sectors; ability to work with senior level executives and administrators; familiarity with the Pittsburgh region; familiarity with the non-profit sector; grant writing experience - ability to research and pursue grant opportunities; awareness of Digital Divide issues.
