Compensation Range: $62,453 - $100,549  per year

JOB SUMMARY:              

The Director of The Center for Race and Gender Equity is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and/or programs that address individual and systemic racism and gender inequity. The Director is responsible for the management and leadership of the Center‘s staff, development and integration of the Association’s programs and initiatives around gender, race and social issues.  She/he serves as the Association’s lead for advocacy and research efforts. Develops and maintains research data and information regarding race and gender issues. Develops comprehensive resource information to refer women and girls to local resources available to improve their circumstances throughout all stages of life. Maintains the resource information on the YWCA website for public access.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree with at least eight (8) years of relevant experience and of which five (5) were at a management level or a Master's Degree with five (5) years of experience and of which at least three (3) years were at management level.  Demonstrated experience in grant research and writing, diversity training and advocacy work is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:      

Must possess a strong knowledge of best practices regarding diversity, inclusion, advocacy, training and facilitation.  Experience with individuals from diverse backgrounds a must.  Demonstrated  skill in mobilizing advocacy efforts at the corporate and/or grassroots level is preferred.  Excellent written and verbal communication, research and public speaking skills are required.  Competency in developing and implementing comprehensive and effective short and long-term organizational goals is important.  Manages, assigns, delegates, evaluates, coaches and empowers others to accomplish responsibilities.  Develops high standards of performance for self and others. Builds effective teams committed to Association goals. Experience in building community and corporate partnership is preferred.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and provides leadership to the Center for Race and Gender Equity and its staff.
  • Leads the development of the Association’s systemic social change initiatives.
  • Responsible for keeping the Association abreast of changes or issues related to race and gender equity.
  • Advocates for the fair and equal treatment of all people.
  • Researches and prepares written position statements that advance the mission of the Association.
  • Cultivates, develops and maintains internal and external partnerships and collaborations.
  • Develops comprehensive resource information and creates access to this data on the Association’s website.
  • Coordinates with the Development and Communication Department to secure, relevant grants and funding.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality when working with sensitive and personal client, vendor, employee and contract information.
  • Displays consistent professionalism and courtesy when interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Promotes and supports the mission, imperative, values and goals of the YWCA maintaining high performance standards.
  • Represent the Association at applicable meetings, events and speaking engagements.
  • Performs other duties as directed within the scope of the Director, The Center for Race and Gender Equity.
