Winchester Thurston School, an independent PK-Grade 12 school with campuses in Shadyside and Allison Park, announces an immediate opening in the Business Office.

The Business Office Operations Coordinator is a 12-month exempt position reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations. The Coordinator has the primary responsibilities for managing payroll functions, employee benefits, transportation, purchasing, and accounts payable.
The individual in this position provides support in a manner that advances and upholds the mission and philosophy of Winchester Thurston School. He or she enhances the school’s reputation by embracing customer service as a core goal, and by accepting ownership of and adding value to tasks and responsibilities, in a professional manner. The successful applicant will be detailed oriented and capable of performing in a fast paced environment with experience working with accounts payable and payroll software.

Key Responsibilities
The overall duties of the Business Office Coordinator include (but are not limited to) the following:

Payroll and Benefits:
Using the ADP payroll management system: 
-Monthly payroll
-Regulatory and tax reporting
-Special reporting as requested

Maintaining current files for employment agreements and employee benefit options including beneficiary and special election forms for payroll, tax withholding, retirement plan participation unemployment claims, COBRA, Flexible Savings.

Keeping the register of employee legally required state and federal clearance forms and verify school compliance.

Accounts Payable: Using Blackbaud Financial Edge Software process accounts payable including the issuance of checks, the distribution of proper account posting, issuing IRS 1099s, and controlling purchase orders.

Student Transportation: Managing the School transportation program: Arrange transportation for WT students with City and suburban school districts; oversee WT vans including the driver program and the coordination of routes including interaction with parents; arrange bus/van transportation for school field trips and other transportation needs.

General Business Office Functions
-Purchasing general office supplies for the school and acting as the front line person dealing with vendor issues.
-Managing the purchase of books and materials pursuant to the Pennsylvania Act 90/95 grant program.
-Assisting outside auditors with the annual audit
-Working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, Accounting Services Manager, and the Director of Buildings and Grounds within the Business Office.
-Performing other duties as assigned.
