WC&S seeks a highly motivated individual with exceptional writing and organization skills.  Responsibilities include all aspects of government and foundation prospecting, solicitation and grant reporting.  Must have Act 33/34 clearances.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE-Foundation Relations
(40 Hours)

GENERAL SUMMARY: Supports the organization’s Mission, Guiding Principles and Values and Women’s Center Business System (WCBS), along with sensitivity of cultural and workplace harmony.

SUMMARY:  Develops strategy, researches, writes and submits government and foundation funding proposals and reports.  Ensures compliance with funder contracts and IRS regulations.

REPORTS TO: Development Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a strategy to identify and solicit potential local and national funding sources to meet the financial needs of Women’s Center & Shelter.
  • Interviews foundation program staff to determine submission strategy.
  • Cultivates meaningful relationships with foundation staff and/or trustees
  • Responsible for all aspects of the grant application processes including: developing timelines; communicating with internal key staff and external partners; researching and securing necessary information from internal and external partners; completing forms; gathering and numbering attachments; compiling all grant information in desired order and format; overseeing copying and mailing of completed proposals.
  • Oversees projects and supervises interns and volunteers as necessary.
  • Pursues donation of in-kind gifts for agency use
  • Represents WC&S to the public
  • Prepares and sends acknowledgements of grant support received.
  • Writes interim and final reports to foundations for general operating grants and all other foundation-supported grants
  • Develops and maintains current list of grants submitted (including listing of purpose, amount and response dates)
  • Maintains grant-related files
  • Assures that JARS is utilized in all departmental activities
  • Meets regularly with Development Director to review, receive and prioritize tasks, issues/problems of the Development department
  • Helps with communications, special events and public relations, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by you supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Effective strong oral and written communications skills
  • 1-3 years development/fundraising experience
  • Possesses working knowledge or ability to learn Raiser’s Edge
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Windows, Outlook, Word and Powerpoint
  • Ability to Work independently and as a team member
  • Sensitive to domestic violence and cultural diversity issues
  • Act 33 and 34 clearances

Salary Range E  $28,410 – 42,616

Exempt Status
