Valley Forge Educational Services (VFES) seeks a dynamic, experienced leader to serve as Executive Director and actively lead the development of all VFES programs and activities to ensure continued viability and growth. The Executive Director will be responsible for creating positive synergies between the programs, marketing the organization’s unique, high quality programs and services, and overseeing fundraising strategies and strategic initiatives that will enable the organization to build upon its strengths and reach its full potential. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director will directly supervise the Chief Financial Officer and a team of twelve directors.
Valley Forge Educational Services employs 170 professional educators, therapists, and support staff who have been dedicated to serving the needs of children and focused on guiding young people to independence for more than fifty years. Started initially as a school to help children whose needs were not met by mainstream educational programs, VFES has grown and evolved with each generation of special learners. Our experience, warmth and entrepreneurial spirit have made VFES a trusted partner in special education in the Delaware Valley region.
While each of our programs supports the needs of specific learners, together they enable families and children to receive a continuum of services in the same location if needed. Our programs include: The Vanguard School, The Luma Center™, Vanguard Transition Center, and Summer Matters™. Presently, all four programs share a beautiful 28 acre campus in Malvern, PA, approximately 30 minutes west of Philadelphia, PA.
Qualifications for this position include:
• Five (5) years’ successful executive leadership experience, preferably within a non-profit, educational setting serving children with special needs and their families
• Graduate degree from an accredited institution, preferably in education or business administration
• Demonstrated ability in building consensus within a complex, diverse organization
• Demonstrated ability to foster an understanding and acceptance of children with special needs
