Major Gifts Officer, University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Medical and Health Sciences Foundation - Pittsburgh, PA

The Medical and Health Sciences Foundation, the development wing of the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences and UPMC, has a Major Gifts Officer position available for qualified candidates. 

This individual will lead an effort to expand the major gifts program in several disciplines within the Department of Medicine, using innovative and tactical leadership skills.  The applicant will:

  • Carry a portfolio of major gifts prospects and work closely with nationally recognized physicians;
  • Design a progressive and creative set of strategies for short and long-term fundraising initiatives that will appeal to donor/patient interests;
  • Write and prepare proposals, solicitation materials, and support materials

This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to work independently yet rely on a team of other like-minded development officers. 

Minimum Requirements:
The applicant should demonstrate a set of past achievements and skills including:

  • Experience in securing gifts of $25,000 and more from individual prospects;
  • Successful relationship building, both internal and external to the organization;
  • Creative application of fundraising skills to create a successful program;
  • Five years or more of experience in fundraising.  

A strong set of references should be provided.  Promotional opportunities are available within the organization.
