The Fred Rogers Company is looking for a Director of Finance. The company, a nonprofit founded by Fred Rogers over 40 years ago, was the producer of the landmark television series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and is currently producing new children’s television programming for PBS and extending its founder’s work with other initiatives promoting children’s social, emotional, and behavioral health. Everything we do is aimed at supporting parents, caregivers, teachers and other professionals in their work with children. The company is a small nonprofit: the successful candidate, who will report to the Chief Operating Officer, will need to be able to work independently without supporting staff, and will have a wide range of responsibilities including:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of GAAP, including AICPA Statement of Position 2000-02 for television production accounting and FAS 116 and FAS 117 for nonprofit standards. The position requires proficiency in the use of Excel and Quickbooks. Previous experience of production and participation accounting in the entertainment industry is highly desirable, and experience in a nonprofit environment is useful. Current Certification as a Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
