Accounting Supervisor, TCV MH/MR, Inc. - Braddock, PA

Primary Purpose of Department:
The primary function of the FISCAL Department is to ensure that all claims for services provided are recorded and billed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the policies, procedures, and guidelines for each payer and to present accurate and timely financial reports to Senior Management and the Board of Directors of Turtle Creek Valley and to ensure that all employees and vendors of the Agency receive payment for services in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the Agency’s Vision, Mission and Values.
 
Primary Purpose of this Position
The primary purpose of this position is to function as a team member with the Fiscal Staff and Management and to interact with accounting staff to ensure that Turtle Creek Valley is in compliance with the policies, procedures, and guidelines related to generally accepted accounting principles.
 
Work Schedule:  
The normal work-week for this position is 37.5 Hrs each week. 
 
Description of Essential Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Provide direction and supervision to the general ledger bookkeeper, payroll clerk, and accounts payable/purchasing staff and to ensure that accurate and timely financial information is generated.
  • Ability to manage the CYMA accounting software including working with IT to do upgrades, purges, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring of results compared to annual budget.
  • Ensure that monthly and year end Allegheny County billing related to Program Funded expenditures is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Complete assigned account analyses for general ledger balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide oversight for the representative payee program for Turtle Creek Valley clients.
  • Interact in a helpful and professional manner with Senior Management, Agency staff, Auditors, Social Security Administration, and Vendors.
  • Provide in-service to staff as required changes are implemented in the CYMA accounting software.
  • Attend and participate in CYMA Users Group meetings with other organizations to discuss recommended changes in CYMA accounting software.
  • Attend quarterly compliance meetings as a member of the compliance committee.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll and accounts payable transactions for accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Revise and update accounting policies and procedures as needed to reflect best practices.
  • Maintain system of adequate internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Develop Management and Financial Reports utilizing CYMA/Crystal Report Writer to assist in agency decision making.
  • Duty to act and communicate in a professional manner, in accordance with the Agency’s Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Training
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required along with prior non-profit experience, preferably in a human services agency.  Minimum 7 years experience.  Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.  Experience in managing financial reporting, general ledger, budgeting, payroll, and accounts payable
