Job Description

Street Medicine is the delivery of medical and other services to those sleeping on the streets.  The Street Medicine Institute was formed by a number of similar programs throughout the US and abroad, the lead program being Operation Safety Net of the Pittsburgh Mercy Health System.  The role of the Street Medicine Institute Executive Director is to serve as the chief administrative officer of the newly formed Street Medicine Institute, whose mission is to promote the development of Street Medicine programs and services in collaborating communities in order to deliver best services to the unsheltered homeless.

Requirements

Experience in nonprofit or human services management, preferably in developing and managing a start-up nonprofit organization, including the ability to develop and execute strategies for fund raising, public relations, and advocacy.

Experience working with a Board of Directors

Extensive prior experience with budgeting, human resources management, strategic development, financial and program planning.

The interpersonal qualities of integrity, trust, approachability, compassion, appreciation for diversity, and accountability.

A minimum of 10 years of senior management experience, preferably in health care.

Responsibilities

Street Medicine Institutional operational functions.

Marketing of the Street Medicine Institute.

Fund Development for the Street Medicine Institute.

Creation of Street Medicine programs in three communities within the first two years.

Hosting the annual International Street Medicine Symposium.

Other Information

The Street Medicine Executive Director will report to, and work directly with the President of the Street Medicine Institute.  The Executive Director will also prepare reports for and work under the direction of the Street Medicine Institute Board.
