Job Description

Steeltown Entertainment Project (“Steeltown”) is a small, but growing non-profit 501(c)( 3) with a mission to promote the creation of socially significant and/or commercially viable entertainment content needed for a vibrant and sustainable film and digital media sector in Southwestern Pennsylvania (“SWPA”.)  It does this through a variety of programs, including the Steeltown Film Factory filmmaking competition, the “Take A Shot At Changing The World” viral video competition, “Youth & Media” programs partnering with other non-profits and educational organizations, and an Incubator that develops various digital media projects with top entertainment professionals.   (See www.steeltown.org

Summary:

Steeltown seeks a responsible, organized, and committed Operations Manager with strong administrative skills and at least three years experience in the non-profit world.   Background in the entertainment industry, arts management, and/or educational or cultural programs would be beneficial. Should be experienced with Microsoft Office Suite and Quickbooks.  

Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.  Offices are located at WQED Pittsburgh in Oakland. 

Job Description:

The Operations Manager is responsible for enac ting Steeltown’s vision as defined by the Executive Producer and Board of Directors, including managing Steeltown’s financial activities, and the general administration of Steeltown’s program s.  This includes managing audits, budgets, tax filings, grants, and fundraising proposals, as well as ensuring accurate reporting of Steeltown’s activities as a non-profit. The Operations Manager reports to the Executive Producer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the day-to-day general administration of the organization,
  2. Manage budgets; track day-to-day finances of the organization; monitor financial aspects of projects and programs,
  3. Work with the Executive Producer to develop, implement and manage programs,
  4. Assist Executive Producer with fundraising efforts and maintain accurate, up-to-date records on fundraising activities and donors,
  5. Compose and submit grant applications, track grant timelines and deadlines, and complete all grant reporting requirements,
  6. Develop and manage payroll systems and benefits packages,
  7. Assist Executive Producer regarding contracts and general interactions with outside vendors and consultants (legal, marketing, financial auditing, etc.),
  8. Assist Executive Producer with marketing activities and public outreach,
  9. Other work as assigned by the Executive Producer.
