America’s #1 conservation service organization The Student Conservation Association (SCA), seeks a Training and Learning Program Coordinator located at our Three Rivers Regional Office located in Pittsburgh, PA.  This is an exciting opportunity in community programs for a team oriented individual who is passionate about youth development and environmental issues.

The Training and Learning Program Coordinator will work with a team of program staff and focus on hands-on and classroom learning for SCA participants in the Pittsburgh region. The Coordinator will collaborate with agency partners to ensure high quality programming for high school students and young adults, focusing on creating, maintaining, and implementing learning opportunities for participants related to ecological literacy, life skills, and green jobs.  She/he will also be the lead on workforce development year-round programming supervising front-line crew leaders.

The ideal candidate will have experience engaging young people in environmental learning opportunities, including classroom and hands-on training, work well in a team, and be able to prioritize multiple tasks and goals within an innovative work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree required; Environmental Education or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental education planning and implementation
  • 2+ years of experience leading young people in outdoor settings. Experience working with urban high school youth desired.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in developing curriculum as well as evaluation tools required
  • Current First Aid and CPR (can be obtained after hire).
  • Criminal background check required; must meet SCA standards
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass SCA’s MVR required standards
  • Knowledge of MS Office software
  • Knowledge of conservation work skills and experience working on a variety of projects
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel
