Reading Is FUNdamental Pittsburgh is looking for a bright, energetic, entrepreneurial individual to join our  NEW Storymobile team.

RIF Pittsburgh is dedicated to reducing the literacy gap in our community by providing books and motivational reading programs to our community’s most economically disadvantaged children.

The Storymobile program offers RIF Pittsburgh a unique opportunity to engage low-income families and children in their own neighborhoods.  In bi-weekly visits, this lending library-on-wheels travels to childcare homes and centers, and public housing communities to engage parents, caregivers, and children on the importance of literacy.  These frequent visits allow RIF Pittsburgh to build strong relationships within these communities, tailor programming to their unique preferences and needs, and hopefully develop the Storymobile into a gathering place for positive, multi-generational interaction. Our Storymobile also participates in community events throughout the year, increasing our presence and impact, as well as raising awareness of our activities and our role in the local literacy community.

The Program and Outreach Coordinator will participate in all aspects of the program including site selection and scheduling, program development and delivery, community and partner relations and overall management of the program.

Applicants must possess a can do positive attitude, the ability to manage multiple tasks, excellent problem solving skills, have strong written and verbal communication skills and solid computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Experience with Access and Library software a plus.  Additional pluses include a experience in working with youth and community outreach as well as a teaching and/or early childhood literacy background. Individual must be innovative, well organized, and able to prioritize duties and understand the “team player” nature of a small organization and be open to do whatever needs to be done!  Position includes full operation of the vehicles.
