$2,000 per month

The Pittsburgh Central Collaborative (PCC), a team of three community development corporations from Uptown, Hill District, and Oakland, seeks the services of a consultant to serve as PCC Team Coordinator and facilitator from February – December 2012.  Oakland Planning and Development Corporation (OPDC), Uptown Partners of Pittsburgh (UPP), and Hill House Association (HHA) have joined together to form the Pittsburgh Central Collaborative to take a coordinated approach to community revitalization in Pittsburgh’s educational/medical/high tech core and surrounding communities.  The team is embarking on transportation planning, workforce development, community engagement/planning, and economic development activities. 

PCC Team Coordinator will facilitate the team meetings of the representatives of each organization, write meeting minutes and reports, and complete research/analysis projects per the PCC work plan. 

Specific tasks include:

  • Facilitate monthly meetings of PCC team to ensure projects are on-track, roles/responsibilities assigned, issues resolved.  Maintain a detailed PCC project schedule. 
  • Complete and distribute minutes from each team meeting and from all project meetings where coordinator is in attendance. 
  • Coordinate scheduling/locations of all team meetings and any special project meetings.  Ensure that any supplies needed for meetings are available (flip chart, projector, conference call line, etc.). 
  • Draft team reports for required submissions to funders; circulate for review and finalize for submission.  Compile attachments as needed.  Report schedule: quarterly (March, June, September, December), mid-year (June), and year-end (December).  Prepare presentation materials as needed. 
  • Complete an analysis of each neighborhood’s master/vision plan and other relevant planning documents; work with the PCC team to identify common themes, intersecting recommendations, areas of opportunity, etc.  Draft a report summarizing the analysis.  Review with team.  Finalize report for submission to funder and distribution to stakeholders.  Report due no later than fourth quarter 2012. 
  • Facilitate conversations between Oakland Planning and Development Corp. and Hill House Association regarding workforce development collaboration opportunities.  Complete and distribute meeting minutes. 
  • Other tasks as assigned by team.

Qualifications:

  • Strong meeting facilitation and team building skills and experience.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills.  Attention to deadlines, details.
  • Knowledge of the community development/community planning fields preferred, but not required.  Familiarity with PCC neighborhoods helpful, but not required.
  • Strategic thinking, analysis capability and experience.  Ability to synthesize complex data/reports. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to coordinate project activities with diverse groups and individuals; experience doing so.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and initiative to complete the scope of work; ability to develop initiatives in innovative manner for effective resolution of any issues. 
  • Work schedule that will enable consistent performance through the end of the contract term.  PCC seeks consultant able to see the project through until completion. 

Work Schedule and Compensation
The PCC Team Coordinator is a part-time consultant position that does not include benefits.  The coordinator will report to the PCC team as a whole.  The coordinator will complete much of the scope of work remotely, at his/her own office space, and must have access to computer, phone, internet, printer, etc.  On occasion coordinator may utilize facilities of PCC team members.  Coordinator must provide his/her own transportation to various meeting locations.  Contract term will be February 1, 2012 – December 31, 2012. 

PCC Team Coordinator will be compensated $2,000 per month inclusive of expenses.  PCC will not provide additional compensation for ancillary expenses.  Supplies needed by the team will be purchased by the PCC.
