The current economic environment is placing the nonprofit sector under an historical level of financial stress. In response to this stress, and in an attempt to assert greater control over the sustainability of their agencies, nonprofit leaders are turning to the creation of earned revenue business ventures in increasingly greater numbers. Regardless of the type of good or service being offered, when launching a new venture or growing an existing business, it is important to begin by thoroughly evaluating the opportunity to avoid investing time, money and energy in a business with little chance for success or whose failure could leave the organization in an even worse financial condition.

Pittsburgh, Pa. (October 13, 2009) — Dr. Peter G. Ellis, Director of the Medical Oncology Network for UPMC Cancer Centers & Chairman of the St. Margaret Foundation announced yesterday that Mary Lee Gannon has been hired as the President of St. Margaret Foundation following a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors.
