Accounting Manager - Full Time, HEARTH - Pittsburgh, PA

HEARTH’s mission is to provide a progression of supportive services and housing that empowers families to become independent, self-sufficient and adequately housed.  Also to foster low income housing opportunities to prevent homelessness and encourage safe, affordable housing.

We provide transitional and permanent housing to homeless women with children. This position would be located in the North Hills office.

Title:  Accounting Manager - Full Time
           Salary – low to mid $30’s

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Managing the office as a central clearinghouse for information for various constituencies including the Board of Director, Donors, and the General Public.
  2. Managing the accounting functions by processing Accounts Payable (pay invoices), Accounts Receivable (deposits & track program fees), monthly journal entries, bi-monthly payroll records to payroll company, monthly bank reconciliation, monthly Treasurer’s Report with variance explanation, monitoring Temporarily Restricted Funds, remittance of quarterly sales tax from house pin sales, administer and reconcile Petty Cash and coordinate annual budgeting process.
  3. Enforcing internal controls for proper audit trails and coordinating annual audit process with CPA.
  4. Managing monthly Grant Expense Reimbursement Reports and annual Close Out Reports for various grants.
  5. Managing insurance needs, including health for salaried employees, workman's compensation, property and general liability, etc.
  6. Maintaining sales and ticket information related to fund raising events.
  7. Liaison between staff and tech support for computers and database systems.
  8. Be available for agency special events.
  9. Coordinating the agency audit.
  10. Performing other duties as required by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  1. Background in financial accounting. Excel and Word for Windows.
  2. Knowledge of and experience with database systems - ability to learn web-based Intacct accounting service and Good World donor database software.
  3. Organizational skills - particularly the ability to manage multiple projects with different deadlines.
  4. Ability to work with volunteers.
