Girls Hope of Pittsburgh is looking for a highly motivated, competent, and caring individual to support our mission of “helping academically capable and motivated children-in-need to meet their full potential and become women for others by providing value-centered, family-like homes, opportunities and education through college”.

Since 1991, Girls Hope has served more than 500 girls affected by poverty, abuse or neglect, helping each one to find the resources that best meet their needs.  Girls Hope has selected 52 of those at-risk girls who seemed to be most academically capable and appropriate for its residential program, offering them a home, opportunities and an education through college.

Girls Hope of Pittsburgh, a Partnered Ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Baden, PA and an affiliate of Boys Hope Girls Hope International, is independently incorporated and governed by a local Board of Directors. 

The Administrative Assistant assists the Executive Director and all members of the Administrative Team in managing and supporting the flow of work and communications for Girls Hope including internal and external correspondences, proposals, projects, and program support and development activities. Additionally, this person will assist in conducting mailings to donors, organizing special events and provide support on an as needed basis to all members of the Administrative Team.   

The major responsibilities of this position are:

  • to work closely with all members of the Administrative Team to support the initiatives of Girls Hope.
  • to collaborate with the Executive Director, staff and volunteers to support the management, program, development and public relations activities of Girls Hope.
  • to assist the Executive Director in maintaining accurate records and files
  • to support the Program Director by assisting with program compliance tracking, filing and mailings
  • to assist the Development Director in preparing fundraising reports and tracking fund raising results by source and use codes.       
  • to provide support for special events and other agreed upon activities.

Requirements

  • Three years minimum experience in an administrative support position and a two year degree in business or a related area.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, e-mail and database applications, preferably the Raiser’s Edge.
  • Proficiency in typing using correct grammar and spelling.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and over the phone.

This is a professional position at Girls Hope and requires periodic evening and weekend work.
