Special Projects Manager, Great Lakes Behavioral Research Institute - Pittsburgh, PA

Great opportunity to develop and execute multiple, simultaneous projects to advance the effectiveness of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) within Allegheny County.  Special Projects Manager  will work directly with the Director in serving as the Area Agency on Aging’s advocate, working to allocate and utilize resources in an efficient manner and managing relationships with a wide group of people, while being a member of a co-operative, motivated and successful team.  Special Projects Manager will be responsible for:
                                          
*Managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
*Coordinating major initiatives within the AAA, as well as coordinating initiatives with community groups and peer organizations.
*Directing complex cross unit projects requiring cooperation of persons with varying functions and roles not reporting to incumbent.
*Leading research into funding and program opportunities for the AAA.
*Utilizing IT systems and technology tools to provide analysis and data driven decisions.
*Translating data and information to track impacts for consumers, staff and aging network and recommends alternative actions.
*Serving as primary contact/interface with external groups, stakeholders, etc.
*Interacting with providers and facilitating projects, assuming both task and process management.
*Identifying and managing project risks while recognizing and maximizing potential of opportunities for benefit of consumers, staff and aging network.
*Routinely handling confidential information appropriately.
*Developing, managing and distributing project information to assure effective awareness, response and recognition.
*Preparing staff for Administrators’ questions and expectations.
*Advising Administrators based on working relationships with AAA staff.
*Utilizing contacts with staff as an opportunity to improve the quality or efficiency of work product.
*Creating concept papers, reports, memos, etc.

Master’s/Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field, plus 3/5 years previous experience in project management in a public or private organization.  Applicant should have knowledge of project and process management, along with the ability to communicate rationale and impact of the whole or portions to effected groups.  Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to serve as effective advocate, negotiator and manager of complexity are important.
