Professional position focusing on strategic internal/external communications and public education, including media relations and crisis management, branding and social marketing efforts within the Office of Community Relations, Allegheny County Department of Human Services. Public Relations Manager will be responsible for:
*Advising and assisting the OCR Deputy Director in the following responsibilities:
*Providing consistent and accurate information to the media
*Providing a primary leadership role in managing existing culturally, linguistically and ADA appropriate, pro-active communications efforts and conceptualizing, developing, implementing and managing new communications strategies with media, key stakeholders and when appropriate, County Communications staff.
*Assisting with the management of crisis and disaster communications with media, key stakeholders and County communications staff
*Working with all DHS program and support offices, as well as contracted providers, to develop and manage culturally-aware, integrated and comprehensive communications strategies for the Department.
*Employing multiple strategies to unify and improve the efficiency, effectiveness and reach of the Department’s communications messaging.
*Implementing and/or assisting to coordinate new and/or expanded communications innovative channels/venues undertaken by the Department including social marketing and social media.
*Coordinating the conceptualization, development and production of the Department’s collateral materials and related distribution strategies.
*Managing the visual brand and communications voice of the Department.
*Maintaining relationships with internal and external printers and other vendors.
*Functioning as the staff liaison to the other DHS Offices and Allegheny County Offices/Departments.
Master’s/Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in human services, communications, marketing or a related field, plus at least 6/8 years professional level responsibility in human service programs, human development programs, services delivery experience or a combination of these. Applicant should be able to clearly communicate both orally and written with diverse populations, have both available and consistent access to reliable transportation, possess a clear understanding of communications goals and audiences and be able to professionally interact with County and provider staff, consumers and the general public.
