Program Officer

The FISA Foundation is a highly focused grantmaking foundation that seeks to improve the lives of women, girls, and people with disabilities in the ten county area of southwestern Pennsylvania.  In addition to grantmaking, the Foundation furthers its mission through active engagement in the community – including serving as a collaborator on numerous projects and committees, convening community leaders to raise awareness of issues facing our populations with the goal of addressing unmet needs, and commissioning research or reports.

FISA Foundation currently has an opening for a full-time Program Officer. Working with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, the Program Officer will play a critical role in advancing the Foundation’s mission.  Responsibilities include reviewing, evaluating, summarizing and monitoring grant proposals; conducting background research; providing technical assistance to grantees; convening community discussions to address key issues; coordinating internal and external communications; and managing special projects (such as the annual report).

Essential Qualifications

• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.  
• Self-directed, organized, energetic, creative, accountable, and able to handle multiple tasks.
• Able to work with diverse populations and to establish partnerships.
• Strategic thinker, skilled in planning, analysis, and evaluation.
• Familiarity with the nonprofit sector.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; graduate degree preferred in a related field such as disability studies, social work, health care administration, women’s studies or non-profit management.
• High comfort level with technology, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel.
• At least five years of related experience.
• Must have access to a car for frequent travel throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.

Priority will be placed on candidates who meet the essential requirements of the position and have experience in the disability field.  Experience in the following areas will be an asset:

• Women’s health
• Community organizing and convening
• Advocacy
• Program evaluation
• Public relations
• Grantmaking

Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefit package will be offered.
