POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
Executive Director - Dreams of Hope (DOH) seeks a focused, dedicated leader to oversee all non-artistic aspects of our operations.
 
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Serves as Executive Director of Dreams of Hope, reporting to the President of the Board of Directors.
 
With the President and Artistic Director, enables the Board to fulfill its governance function, and facilitate interaction between management and Board.
 
Working alongside the Artistic Director, provides leadership to all efforts towards the achievement of Dreams of Hope’s mission and to its annual goals and objectives, actively communicating these goals to the staff, Board, and community.

DOH Mission Statement: Through the power of the arts, Dreams of Hope provides the region's LGBT and allied youth a welcoming environment to grow in confidence, express themselves, and develop as leaders. Their creative contributions educate audiences, build awareness, and increase acceptance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board of Directors - With the President, Executive Committee, and Committee Chairs, this position effectively manages the governance activities of the Board of Directors, assuring appropriate oversight and Board Development activities are in place to monitor and secure the long- term stability of the organization.

Management and Administration - Be responsible for the consistent achievement of the organization's mission and financial goals.  Make certain that the philosophy and mission statement are pertinent and practiced throughout the organization.  Along with the Artistic Director, assure that Dreams of Hope has long-range artistic and management strategies that achieve its mission and towards which the organization makes timely and consistent progress.  Oversee all administrative, non-artistic, and production functions. Effectively manage team of program heads.

Financial Management - Oversee the flow of funds to permit steady progress toward the  
achievement of mission and objectives, and allocate funds to reflect present needs and future potential.  Along with the Artistic Director, develops an annual operating budget for approval by the Board of Directors and oversee its implementation.

Fundraising - Coordinate Board efforts in fundraising and donor cultivation.  In partnership with the Artistic Director, strategize and implement approaches to prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors. 

Volunteer Coordination - Along with Artistic Director, coordinates communication between staff, Board of Directors, the Volunteer Coordinator, and participating families.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors of Dreams of Hope and works
closely with the Artistic Director.

REQUIREMENTS:.
Liberal Arts or Business degree required; advanced degree in Arts Administration preferred.

A minimum of five years management experience is required.

Grant writing expertise is required.

Fundraising experience is required. Donor appeal solicitation experience is required.

Proficiency with Quickbooks, Excel, and Access is required.

Excellent oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, fundraising, staff management skills, computer proficiency.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
The position of Executive Director is a half-time (20 hrs/wk.), salaried position. 
Dreams of Hope offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
