Development Director, City Theatre - Pittsburgh, PA

City Theatre, a professional theatre company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania dedicated to the development and production of new plays, seeks a full time Development Director. This position reports to the Managing Director and works closely with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors to provide leadership and management for the overall coordination, development and operation of City Theatre’s fundraising.

The director will develop and execute an annual funding and cultivation plan for individual, foundation, corporate and government donors; maintain relationships with diverse donor groups; identify, cultivate and solicit potential funders; creatively engage donors using a variety of methods and tactics, including mail,  e-mail, social media, and theatre and special events; oversee fulfillment of member, patron, and sponsor benefits; develop strategies to address the theatre’s capital needs; support with the executive staff the Board and its committees; and supervise a development associate  and interns.
                                   
City Theatre is seeking candidates with a bachelor’s or masters degree or equivalent experience; a minimum of five years’ experience with evidence of progressive responsibility; a history of engagement with board members and committees; exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated experience with databases and office productivity software such as Microsoft Office and donor databases; and a genuine interest in new plays and a dedication to promoting City Theatre’s mission.  Experience in the performing arts is preferred.
