Christian foster care ministry announces a search to fill the newly-created position of Vice President of Development, reporting directly to the President. The Vice President of Development will be responsible for the fund-raising activities of the agency. The successful candidate will join a 40+ year growth-oriented ministry in foster care and adoption, with offices currently in 8 states.

Responsibilities:

  • Major Donors – research, identify, cultivate and solicit major donors through presentations, direct mail, outreach efforts, advertising, public relations activities and one-on-one meetings.  Build strong, long-term, effective relationships with donors, including individuals, businesses, community groups, foundations and other donors.  Meet strategic donor growth goals and increase the number of major donor gifts.
  • Capital Campaigns - conduct a proactive donor relations campaign that includes donor acquisition and donor relations. Oversee special fundraising events as needed
  • Special Events – manage the fundraising efforts for all special events such as dinners, desserts, and group meetings.
  • Donor Database – establish and manage a donor database that provides information necessary to improve and increase donor participation.
  • Foundations – oversee the research of and application for foundation funding
  • Evaluation – develop and oversee internal and external evaluations of fundraising process and personnel.
  • Planning – initiate and implement strategic and long-range planning which reflects a strong emphasis on reality while understanding what the Lord can do in and through those who have faith and confidence in Him; translate vision into strategy and establish steps to implement the program

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:

  • B.A. in Marketing, Communications, or related field and/or CFRE designation.
  • Demonstrated progressive track record of five years of advanced fund-raising and relationship management success
  • Must have extensive fundraising experience, including major gifts, direct response fundraising, planned giving, capital campaigns, grant writing and database management
  • Superior written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized self-starter who can coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive goals and deadlines
  • Personally self-directed with the ability to inspire cooperation, mold opinion, and influence behavior; practices servant leadership and gives praise, encouragement and recognition
  • Ability to build strong relationships with people of all ages, in all national, social and economic backgrounds and denominational settings
