Chatham University, a thriving, dynamic institution with three colleges and one school -- Chatham College for Women and the co-educational College for Graduate Studies and College for Continuing and Professional Studies, and School for Sustainability and the Environment -- invites applications for the position of Director of Major Gifts.

In this key position, you will help develop and implement the major donor fundraising effort in Institutional Advancement. You will engage the institution’s largest donors while expanding the major donor prospect pool. Key duties include:

  • Serving as a primary contact and making direct solicitations, attending donor events and cultivating relationships
  • Maintaining a portfolio of over 100 individual prospects for cultivation and solicitation and making at least 18 face-to-face contacts per month
  • Helping staff and train volunteer solicitors
  • Establishing and monitoring revenue and cash flow projections
  • Creating opportunities for board members and individual donors to raise money

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree, five to seven years of major gifts experience or comparable direct donor contact work and a proven track record of soliciting and securing six- and seven-figure gifts from individual donors. In addition, you should have experience managing programs, timelines, budgets and staff. Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
