Description
This position is responsible for managing the full range of financial and administrative operations for the Department of Statistics. This position establishes policies and procedures for administrative operations, serving as an information resource and advisor to the department head and other members of the department, particularly in the areas of budget planning, sponsored research administration, current financial status of all department funds, graduate student commitments, staff personnel and facilities.

This position analyzes and interprets financial data and administers the sponsored research funds requiring an understanding of sponsored research funds as part of department's financial operation. This position is involved in sponsored research proposal submission, monitoring of awards and close-out of awards, and is expected to maintain compliance with the Federal regulations.

Additionally, this position enforces university, college and departmental policies and can delegate sign off authority. Areas of oversight include staff personnel matters and flow of work through the department; graduate student and undergraduate students programs; facilities allocation, maintenance and renovation; and equipment purchase and allocation. The department includes approximately 30 faculty, 7 staff and 60 graduate students.

Position requires a bachelor's degree in business administration or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience plus at least 5 years related experience including previous experience as a supervisor; experience in financial analysis and budgeting; demonstrated knowledge of business and HR related regulations and policies; demonstrated knowledge of enterprise-wide finance and HR systems, policies and practices.

Preferred education and experience include an MBA or equivalent, CRA (Certified Research Administrator), 7 or more years experience, experience in an academic setting, advanced Excel skills and experience with Oracle financial systems.
