Carnegie Museum of Natural History seeks an innovative Director of Exhibitions & Gallery Experiences to lead the development and design of exhibitions and associated gallery experiences. This is a key leadership position within the museum’s Center for Lifelong Science Learning. The director is responsible for the overall management and direction of exhibitions, including development, design, prototyping, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and evaluation. Gallery experiences should be dynamic, social, meaningful, active, and grounded in research on how people learn. Ongoing evaluation will fuel a feedback loop of increased effectiveness to achieve these qualities. New exhibitions and gallery experiences will transform the ways that the museum’s audiences connect to scientists and their research, the museum’s unique scientific collections, and the contributions these resources make to understanding the past, present, and future of nature and human cultures. Must have a masters or terminal degree in a natural science field, museum studies, or design. Minimum of five years of professional experience in exhibition development. Must be an experienced manager skilled in staff development and the management of group goals and processes.
