Overview of Responsibilities: The Community Programs Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to Community Design Center of Pittsburgh’s existing core programs including the Design Fund and individual residential and commercial design consultations, assist in education and outreach efforts and other duties as assigned. The position is part-time, non-exempt and will report to the Chief Operating Officer while working collegially with all members of the CDCP staff. Key responsibilities include:
Individual Residential and Commercial Design Consultations (estimated 45% of time)
- Coordinate consultations between property owners and volunteer design professionals
- Direct routine program activities including tracking inquiries and processing related paperwork
- Maintain administrative systems
- Respond to inquiries regarding the program
- Maintain program materials
- Coordinate marketing and outreach
- Assist in recruiting and training volunteer consultants
- Attend relevant committee meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Outreach and Civic Engagement (estimated 40% of time)
- Assist in development and implementation of educational programs, workshops, events and presentations
- Assist with communications efforts as assigned
- Assist in reaching materials for CDCP’s on-line resource library
- Monitor and maintain record of relevant newspaper articles and press related to current, previous, and potential projects
- Assist with mapping and documenting previous projects using online software tools
- Other duties as assigned
Organizational Support (estimated 5% of time)
- Pleasantly and effectively represent the CDCP in phone, email and interpersonal contacts
- Participate actively in staff meetings
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
This position requires a highly organized, individual with strong communications and interpersonal skills. The Community Programs Coordinator will work collegially with all staff members, and participate creatively and cooperatively in advancing the overall mission of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in urban design, architecture, planning or related field
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and public speaking
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing and database software
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while providing detailed reporting
- Professional and positive attitude, strong work ethic, collaborative team player
- Position requires access to a car and some driving, some evening and weekend meetings, occasional conferences and events; including transporting event and CDCP materials
- Commitment to organization’s mission and the urban environment
Physical Qualifications
Position primarily performed by sitting. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access office equipment. Occasionally required to stoop and bend to access information and/or to file documents. Position requires sufficient eyesight to read documents and computer screens in the process of performing daily duties. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment. This position may occasionally (less than 1/3 of time) be required to lift up to 25 pounds, reach, stretch, climb, stoop and/or balance.
Work Environment
This position is primarily performed in an office environment. While in the office, the area is well lit, ventilated, heated and air conditioned. Necessary work equipment and tools are provided within employee’s work area. This position will occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
