The Western Pennsylvania Chapter serving about 4 million residents and 19 counties has an exciting opportunity for the position of Executive Director.

The successful candidate will bring knowledge of the market, possess the ability to expand AF’s sphere of influence and have demonstrated success in: special event fund raising, staff development and leadership; volunteer recruitment and development; strategic planning; program management; individual giving and stewardship and corporate engagement and development.

The Executive Director provides senior-level staff oversight for the operations of the Pittsburgh, PA office, including the management of staff and volunteers and the development and execution of community-based fundraising and service programs.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Achieve annual fund raising goals;
  • Develop and manage an annual budget of approximately $1 million;
  • Hire, manage and lead a diverse staff;
  • Recruit and engage local community and corporate volunteer leaders;
  • Expand and manage mission-based community programs;
  • Raise awareness of arthritis and AF’s mission throughout western Pennsylvania, and
  • Provide staff leadership to the Western PA Chapter’s Board of Directors

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive management experience in similar voluntary health agencies;
  • Both hands-on and oversight experience in conducting special events and individual giving campaigns;
  • Direct supervision of staff teams;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the corporate environment and understanding of the Pittsburgh market;
  • Ability to align local programs with the Arthritis Foundation’s strategic direction;
  • Ability to cultivate and nurture community coalitions;
  • Outstanding staff and volunteer leadership skills;
  • Extensive experience in donor stewardship, program delivery and volunteer recruitment, and
  • Direct experience in working with and supporting a Board of Directors.
